Mrs. Doreen Schiff

Doreen Schiff teaches Middle School Science, Social Studies, Technology, and Religion and serves as the 8th Grade Homeroom Teacher and the school's Head Teacher.  Mrs. Schiff received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Psychology from Union College, a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Bryn Mawr College, and a Master’s in Teaching degree with Middle School Endorsement from Rhode Island College.  
Mrs. Schiff co-wrote the Middle School portion of the Diocese of Providence's Next Generation Science Standards (STREAM) Curriculum and is a member of the STREAMing at SLS Planning Team. She also serves on the Mother of Hope Camp Advisory Board 

Mrs. Schiff and her husband, Jamieson, have four children and are parishioners of St. Luke’s Church.  She taught Religious Education to middle school and high school students before joining St. Luke’s School in 2007.  Mrs. Schiff enjoys reading, walking, gardening, attending the theater, and learning about history and nature.

Nominated by parents and current and former students, Mrs. Schiff was awarded the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching in the spring of 2016.  Mrs. Schiff's 8th-grade class was awarded the Audubon Society of Rhode Island's Youth in Conservation Award in 2017 in recognition of the Annawamscutt Creek Study.  Mrs. Schiff was named Teacher of the Year by the Rhode Island Environmental Educators Association in 2019.
