Welcome to Second Grade
Dear Second Grade Families,
I would like to welcome all of you to a new school year at St. Luke’s. I am very excited to meet everyone. I look forward to being your teacher and helping you to learn many new and interesting topics this year. Second grade is lots of fun and very busy. It is a special year for all of you as you prepare to receive two important sacraments, First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
We will continue to read chapter books, learn new things in math and science, as well as become good writers. Each month a different theme will be emphasized in all aspects of the curriculum. September is Friendship and Citizenship. October is Simple Machines. November is a study of the Pilgrims. December is Christmas Celebrations in other Countries. January is a study of Life at the Arctic and Antarctica. February is U.S. presidents and a look at Washington D.C. March and April are learning about Insects. May and June are a study of Oceans and Marine Life. I look forward to meeting you all soon. Second grade will be an exciting and productive year.
