      Parent-Teacher Organization  



    The St. Luke’s School Parent Teacher Organization is excited to begin a new school year with you and your children! The PTO aims to provide our parents with many different opportunities to be involved in school life and build a happy, strong community of families. 

    As a parent or guardian, you are automatically a member of the PTO and are invited to all PTO meetings, as well as a wide variety of school events, which build our wonderful community. We welcome you and encourage you to volunteer your talents to one or more of our PTO activities.

    Our PTO page (and sub-pages located on the left side) have been updated for the current year.  Please take a look at the information as it includes helpful dates, the room parent listing and information on the various PTO-run programs throughout the year. 

    NEW SLS FAMILIES:  The PTO created a “Things to Know About SLS” page located on the left side of our webpage.  Please review the information and if you need any further clarification on any of the items listed, feel free to contact us at pto@stlukesri.org.  We are happy to answer any questions you may have!

    Most importantly, if you are a new family who has not submitted your e-mail address to the school yet, please send it to us via our e-mail account (pto@stlukesri.org).  The majority of our communication is via e-mail so it's very important for us to have your information.  You can submit as many e-mail addresses as you want.  Just let us know which grades your child(ren) are in so that you will receive grade appropriate e-mails. 

    HOW DID WE DO LAST YEAR? We were fortunate to have a very successful fundraising year last year.  Thanks to generosity and support of the SLS community, we were able to raise over $40,000!  Money raised funded field trips and enrichment activities for all classes including the Boston Museum of Science Day at SLS, entry fees for all sports teams and Discovery Education software. In addition, we were able to help the school purchase chromebooks for the entire middle school !

    We are also looking for a new A+ coordinator.  This is an at-home position so if you are interested in helping but don't have flexibility during the day, this is a great way to help!  Contact pto@stlukesri.org if you are interested.
    Finally, we would like to take this time to express our gratitude to our out-going co-presidents, Kristin and Tammie as well as our other outgoing board members for a job well done.  We thank you for your dedication to St. Luke's School!

    DRESS DOWN DAY FOR CHARITY:  Thank you to everyone who participated in our June Dress Down Day.  We were fortunate to collect approximately $660.  As always, 50% of the proceeds will go to the PTO toward enrichment programs for the school and the other half will go to the Catholic Relief Fund as chosen by our 8th grade class.

    The first dress down day of the year will be on Monday, September 25, 2016.  The cost is $5 per child/$10 maximum per family.  50% of the proceeds will be donated to a charity chosen by our preschool.  More information will follow shortly.

    Jr. Service Ministry would like to thank the 14 students and 3 adults who gave of their time & talent to make stuffed animals and help children in Texas who were affected by Hurricane Harvey.  The stuffies, with a birth certificate and a Wishing Star, will be distributed by Catholic Charities of Houston.

    Jr. Service Ministry will also be collecting children's books, baby wipes and diapers to send to Texas and will be distributed by Catholic Charities of Houston. Items may be dropped off in the gym entrance of the school through Friday, September 29, 2017.

    18 children and 4 adults attended Sandwich Club Thursday, August 31st.  200 sandwiches were made for our neighbors in need without shelter and were distributed by our Loaves & Fishes ministry in the Providence area.  

    Thank you to all who gave of their time to meet the needs of others, using your hands & hearts!! And a big thanks to Fr. Bob for always taking the time to speak with the Sandwich Club about service and provide a blessing over the sandwiches, for those who will receive the food & also for all in attendance!

    The next sandwich club meeting will be Friday, October 6th at 3pm in the school gym.  If you would like your child to attend, please contact Cindy at ozzy12@cox.net.

    lunch duty

    LUNCH DUTY    If your schedule allows it, please consider volunteering for lunch duty.  Consider doing it with a friend to make it easier.  You can do it once a month, once a week, the first Monday of every month, etc.  It's up to you.  Just let the lunch duty coordinator know what your availability is and she'll put you on the schedule.  


    If you are interested, please send an e-mail to our brand new lunch duty coordinator - Jaime Finn (welcome aboard Jaime!) at mommafinn1972@icloud.com with your schedule preferences (i.e. the first Friday of every month, etc.).  


    For more details about lunch duty, please refer to the side menu under Lunch Duty.  The monthly schedule can be located under the Lunch Duty drop down arrow as well.

    BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION:   Because of your diligence, SLS was able to raise just over $1,000 last school year!!!   For those that don't know, Box Tops can be found on various supermarket products and can be cut out and sent into school.  This is an easy way to generate money for our school!  SLS receives 5 cents for every box top submitted and are submitted for reimbursement twice per year - once in the Fall and once in the Spring. 


    Put all your clipped box tops in a zip lock and drop them off at the school office or send them in your child's backpack.  The box tops bin is located on the first floor near the center staircase.  The kids love to fill the bin!

    The Stop & Shop A+ Program is an easy way to raise funds for St Luke’s School. After you register your card, each shopping trip earns CASH for our school! 

    Even if you registered your card last year, you must re-register this year for our school to receive credit. Attending to this simple process makes a HUGE difference to our school.
